Is it just me or is anyone else selecting reverse gear instead of first gear when stopped at the lights etc. it happens quite a lot and ive made sure im not lifting the bit on the gear stick.

Not got the Insignia yet but reverse is in the same place on my Astra. I never grab the gear stick with a full hand, just ease it into place with the palm of my hand - thus eliminating the problem of catching the little bit on the gear stick.

Its quite a bit to pull up however so maybe there is a fault with it? dont think you could do it by "accident"

That sounds similar to how my gearbox went before finally packing up altogether. ie. Possible to select reverse instead of first gear even if the reverse lockout catch is not lifted.

This has also happened to 2 or 3 users on another Insignia forum, like mine, I think they were early models however.
