Unhappy vectra c 2.0 dti

hi i own a 2004 vectra c 2.0l dti.
it goes through phases where the spanner light comes on and i have no throttle if i turn it off and restart it it normally runs ok again
i took it to a mate of mine who plugged it in and it came up with throttle position sensor!!
1. where is it?
2. are they easy to change?
3. does it have to be off a diesel or will a petrol one do the job?
thanks in advance for any answers:help

If its the same as the equivalent year petrol versions, the tps is part of the throttle body and cannot be replaced separately as its all electronically controlled by the ecu so in reality there is not actually a tps at all. The only other position sensor there is located above the pedal which is part of the fly by wire throttle control (I.e. No throttle cable) but these rarely fail although there is always a first time I suppose.

Re: vectra c 2.0 dti

I always thought the throttle position sensor was the one on the accelerator pedal.

Re: vectra c 2.0 dti

that will be the one on the throttle housing , there is a vacuum operated throttle flap on there & it has the sensor on the other side .

Re: vectra c 2.0 dti

I know the TPS sensor fault code for the vectra b was 9 times out of ten caused by the vacuum hose aperture in the throttle body becoming blocked. On removing said item and cleaning out hole the fault goes away. Did it on a couple of EBay purchased veccys for work....
